The introduction of Emmanuel Civiello

Manu_CivielloEmmanuel Civiello was born in Lille, France in 1973. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Brussels. He made his debut in comics in 1996, with the publication of the first volume of 'La Graine de Folie' (A bit of Madness). Directly, this story received big success, and has been translated into many languages around the world : "A gorgeously painted work of high fantasy comics storytelling from the French master. Page after page of beautiful artwork"

Then together with writer Thomas Mosdi, he created the new series ‘Korrigans’, published as well in many countries.

In 2005, with the writer Helene Herbeau, he created a new register, a black and white humorous polar about mafia in Los Angeles : ‘Mamma Mia’.

And in 2008 for a new beautiful collection for children, Emmanuel Civiello created a universe from the myth of popular culture : ‘Humphrey Dumbar, the boogeyman’. Followed by ‘Jimmy, the boogey novice’.

In the same time, Manu Civiello made illustrations for books covers for several publishers. His work is published regularly in the magazine Heavy Metal.

With writer Catherine Quenot, he illustrated art books on Fairy Tales : ‘The school Book of Sorcerers’Apprentice’, ‘The secret book of Elfes’ and ‘The secret book Dwarfs’.

He also participated in collections as ‘L’essayeur des Anneaux’, published by French publisher Delcourt, ‘Halloween’ by Editions Albin Michel and ‘Dragons’ by Maghen editions.

His works have been showcased during exhibitions in France, Belgium, Spain and the other countries as well and won many awards in many major Comic festivals.

Emmanuel Civiello likes to live abroad. After twelve years in Brussels he spent one years in L.A. working on Mamma mia. He is now living in China, dedicating his time on his new project, The Dragon’ Dynasty .
